Croatia – Iceland, Nordics fail to make history and to participate in first tournament?

Tuesday, November 19, starting at 21:15 will be held the second leg match between Croatia and Iceland, counting for the World Championship qualifying round match in Brazil in 2014.

Tour match was ended in a draw 0-0, although the Croats were found in numerical superiority almost the entire second half. Croats have first shot at qualifying after the first leg, although a goalless draw away is not the best result that they could get it. Croatia reached the dam after finishing 2nd in a group which also included Belgium, Serbia, Scotland, Wales and Macedonia. Croats have missed this at the 2010 World Cup, played in South Africa, and hope that this time be present at the most important tournament in terms of national teams.

Niko Kovac, the new coach of Croatia, has no absence for this game, and can compose the best first 11 possible.

On the other hand, Iceland has a historical opportunity to qualify for the first tournament, these being for the first time at a dam. They finished 2nd in a group which also included Switzerland, Slovenia, Norway, Albania and Cyprus, the pleasant surprise of the preliminaries because only chance was ranked 5th in this group. The draw of the first leg, and especially the fact that they have not received empty home hope Icelanders keep them alive, even if they have a very heavy travel in Zagreb is announcing a great atmosphere.

Lars Lagerback can not count this match the two major players, Olafur Skulason being suspended after a red card received in the tour game, and the player of Ajax, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is injured and probably will not play in this match.
